Total Fucking Destruction - Monsters

After the colossal Hater, the expectations generated by Richard Hoak and his henchmen were soaring. What would make the TFD after such masterpiece? The immediate response is called Monsters, and is another masterpiece. A genius brief, very brief (lasting only 3:25), but genius nonetheless. There are only two tracks, but serve to freak and banging against the walls like a lunatic with straitjacket. There are only two tracks, but in a superlative level, reaching cause Hater expectancies are even greater. And, if this EP is an announcement of what will be the next full lenght of TFD, then, please, full lenght that comes on the market now! Going to the material in this EP, I can say that we are before two of the best songs ever recorded by Richard Hoak and his colleagues (Ryan Moll on bass and vocals, and Dan O'Hare on guitar and vocals). The album starts with the track that gives its name to the album  with a fast beat but devilish, with Rich inspired, getting possessed fills, cuts, locking here and there, and accelerating again (besides singing, not least what makes with his drums). The best thing about the song reaches the middle of it, when they play a riff glorious, highly influenced by the good old NWOBHM, over accelerated rhythm of those classic golden ages, and a guitar solo in the style of Iron Maiden, Killers times.
It follows one of those songs that are born to become classic: Is Your Love a Rainbow?, where the TFD bring out that cyclothymia so typical in them, causing the listener feel like a schizophrenic to which their multiple personalities beset them in a matter of minutes. Start with a lewd riff (which, attentive to this, remember the old 70s Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin), this riff supported by a full of groove rhythm, plus the addition of a chorus as insane as addictive. Immediately, the TFD explode into Blast Beat, Hoak´s trademark, devastating the neurons of the listener without mercy. And speaking of what playing Richard, I think it's time to be recognized for what it is: a drummer with an unique and incomparable style. The Blast Beat does not last long, as the guys decide jarring the listener back to the beginning, and then the Blast Beat again, and so to the end, playing with our poor brain at will. Thus, these exciting 3:25 minutes comes to an end, the shortest 3:25 minutes in history, as the songs recorded for the occasion are so, so great, they make you want each song lasts 10 minutes, as minimum.
As extra information, it is worth noting that one who does the vocals on "Monsters" (the song) is Rodney Anonymous, who appears courtesy of The State Lunatic Hospital at Danvers. The EP was recorded, mixed and mastered by guitarist Dan O'Hare, who is the current guitarist of Brutal Truth (in case anyone did not notice, Richard is the Brutal Truth drummer. Though, if you're reading this , you should know who Richard Hoak, damn). Ah! The EP can be downloaded for free via Grindcore Karaoke; link which, incidentally, was provided by the great Richard Hoak. Now: MONSTERS: GET READY TO PARTY!
